What is a Due Date?

Your due date (also called Estimated Date of Delivery or EDD) is the expected date when your baby will be born. Most pregnancies last approximately 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period.

Our calculator uses Naegele's rule, which adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period. This is the standard method used by healthcare providers.

Calculation Methods

Last Menstrual Period (LMP)

Most common method. Add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period.

Conception Date

Add 266 days (38 weeks) to the date of conception.

Ultrasound Date

Calculate based on ultrasound measurements and gestational age.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How accurate is the due date?

A: Only about 5% of babies are born exactly on their due date. Most are born within 2 weeks before or after. The due date is an estimate, not a guarantee.

Q: What if I don't know my LMP?

A: You can use your conception date or ultrasound date instead. If you're unsure, consult with your healthcare provider who can help determine the most accurate due date.
